True Color Effects: Youth Leadership Program
True Color Effects is a local, two-week summer youth leadership program that was designed in the summer of 2023 by 13 local high school students of color and teachers of color. Their shared purpose for the program is to offer mentorship for youth in a space that values their cultural backgrounds and centers leadership skills. This program utilizes a tiered mentorship model for youth and educators. Rising grades 4-7 students will be offered space to explore their cultural backgrounds as they build businesses collaboratively with peers. High school students learn strategies for mentoring youth and are supported in considering teaching as a lifelong career; and teachers and CSU faculty guide the program.
