Aly Welker is an Associate Teaching Professor of Rhetoric and Composition, where she teaches College Composition, Writing Arguments, Writing in Digital Environments, Writing in the Sciences, and Principles of Digital Rhetoric & Design. Her teaching emphasizes rhetorical awareness and genre flexibility, helping students write effectively in academic, professional, and public settings.

Aly’s academic background includes degrees in rhetoric and composition and educational research methods. This combination supports her work in both writing instruction and research. Her research interests cover mixed-methods across a variety of projects, including online education, user experience, digital rhetoric, curriculum design, assessment, and focus group studies.  She is currently co-editing a handbook on focus group research, which highlights facilitation strategies that value participant expertise.  She has published articles in Dialogic Pedagogy and the Journal of Composition Theory.

As the Assistant Director of Upper Division Composition, Aly works to cultivate curriculum design and professional development opportunities for faculty teaching upper-division courses. She additionally serves as the Online Coordinator for the English department.

Aly grew up in Fort Collins but went to school in New York City and Florence, Italy before returning home to teach at CSU!
