Description: Talking past each other (and what this means for advocacy and beyond): Dr. Bill Van Patten will review three basic concepts related to language teaching: language, communication, and acquisition. Hewill show how teachers often talk past each other and how researchers sometimes misinterpret each other because of these constructs. Hewill offer some working definitions of these terms for the audience to use in their own discussions with colleagues, administrators and others.
