English Minor
Adding a minor allows you to focus on an area that complements your major, enhances your knowledge and skills, or allows you to pursue a particular interest. We offer three minors: English, Creative Writing, and Linguistics & Culture Interdisciplinary. You can pick up a course guide for them from Sheila Dargon at the English department office.
The English minor is designed for students with interests in English studies but who do not want to complete an English major. With very few exceptions, the minor allows you to choose any English or composition courses to create a program of study specific to your needs and interests.
Creative Writing Minor
The Creative Writing minor offers a unique opportunity for you to balance work in the sciences, business, engineering, or the humanities with the imaginative freedom and cultural engagement of an education in the arts. You will gain experience in two genres (poetry, fiction, and/or creative nonfiction) as you study with published authors, interact with celebrated visiting writers, and gain familiarity with today’s literary landscape. This 21-credit minor, including four workshops and three literature courses, is available both online and on campus.
Linguistics & Culture Interdisciplinary Minor
Linguistics & Culture
The Linguistics and Culture Interdisciplinary Minor is designed for students with a particular interest in language and its cultural interfaces. To find out more about this minor, pick up a course guide for them from Sheila Dargon at the English department office, 359 Eddy Hall.
