Biography
B.S. magna cum laude, Journalism, Ohio University. M.A. and Ph.D., Rhetoric, Carnegie Mellon University.
Professor Cloud teaches courses in rhetorical theory, argument, style, public writing, research methods, and science writing. His research focuses on the rhetoric of social change and human rights, particularly the representation of marginalized groups in public discourse. He also studies the representation of science and scientists in the climate change debate.
(As of Fall 2024) He's working on a book project about long-distance hiking, mental health, and the discourse of "wilderness."
