Mission & Leadership

Mission

Our mission is to represent and promote the interests of the English graduate student body in the department, college, and university. We believe that the graduate student body needs a means of presenting a shared voice to the department, college, and university, and an organized forum for the development of that shared voice and communicating with one another.

Leadership

EGSA is led by co-chairs, with an unofficial “council” structure that allows for individuals or pairs to have EGSA support for special interests and events. Our current 2025-2026 co-chairs are Autumn Koors-Foltz and Bel Mercado.

Events

EGSA aims to have two events per semester. Fall semester, we host a small, low/no-cost event, and then our Fall Salon, where grad students are invited to share their research, interests, and passions in small, informal presentations. Spring semester, we have another small event—such as a movie night or book swap—and an end of the year celebration off campus that offers food, an open mic, and is meant to celebrate our accomplishments over the year!
