Today’s post, the final one of the month, features our “local” authors – English alumna, current students, faculty, and/or staff. This list is by no means complete, and even for those included we have not given a full account of their work, just a sampling.
Recent Publications
Joanna Doxey (Alumna, MFA Creative Writing: Poetry; Currently an Academic Support Coordinator for students majoring in Ethnic Studies, Philosophy, and English): Plainspeak, WY – “Residing in the brutally harsh winters of the Wyoming landscape, Plainspeak, WY is a rumination on self as wilderness. A book of juxtapositions, Doxey leans on the glacial with its inherited dirges and ostensible timelessness, contrasting stoic rock with lamenting body. Ultimately, it is a book of recollection, of broken hearts and slowly changing landscapes.” Most recently, a few of her poems were published in the latest issue of Ghost Proposal (http://ghostproposal.com/).
Camille Dungy (Professor of English): has two books, Trophic Cascade and Guidebook to Relative Strangers, that are finalists for the 2018 Colorado Book Awards. Guidebook is also a finalist for the criticism category of the National Book Critics Circle awards.
Stephanie G’Schwind (Director of the Center for Literary Publishing): recently edited a collection a nonfiction anthology of essays about the body called Beautiful Flesh, which was selected as a finalist for a Colorado Book Award. http://coloradoreview.colostate.edu/books/beautiful-flesh-a-body-of-essays/

Sarah Louise Pieplow (Instructor of English): has a chapter coming out in this book, with a colleague, titled “Method to Our Madness: Teaching and Learning Across Mental Disability.”
Sasha Steensen (Professor of English): just published her fourth poetry collection, Gatherest (Ahsahta Press, 2017).
Debby Thompson (Professor of English): Her essay “Concaves” won the Lamar York Prize in Nonfiction and will be published in the spring issue of The Chattahoochee Review.
Felicia Zamora (Alumna, MFA Creative Writing: Poetry): had her third book of poetry, Instruments of Gap, published by Slope Editions.
