Portrait of Mark Bresnan

Mark Bresnan
Composition Instructor

Where did you go to college? I got my Bachelor’s degree from St. Olaf College in Minnesota and then attended the University of Iowa for graduate school.

What is your favorite class to teach? I always enjoy teaching introductory composition classes. It’s a pleasure to work with students from every department at Colorado State and to help them develop writing skills that they can apply to their majors.

What brought you to CSU? My wife and I moved to Colorado from East Coast last year so that she could pursue a great job opportunity. As a kid, I visited Colorado almost every summer, and was very excited for the chance to live in the area and work in Ft. Collins.

What did you want to be when you were a kid? As a kid, I didn’t spend much time thinking about my future. However, I always loved reading, and I am very happy to work in a field that helps me stay engaged with a huge variety of books, stories, essays, plays, and poems.

Are you reading anything right now? Jonathan Lethem, The Feral Detective. Lethem is one of my favorite writers, but I’ve just started the novel so I’m not sure where I will rank it in relationship to his other books.
