Biography

Professor Amidon teaches courses designed to explore the intersections between rhetoric, composing, and technology. His research interests surround digital rhetorics, intellectual property, multimodal literacies, and genre ecologies. Currently, he is working on a project that posits firefighters' literacy practices reveal a form of blue-collar techne that usefully challenges normative constructions of knowledge work. His work has appeared in the edited collection Copy(write): Intellectual Property in the Writing Classroom (Eds. Courant Rife, Slattery, & DeVoss), Kairos: A Journal of Rhetoric, Technology, and Pedagogy, and a collaboratively authored chapter (forthcoming with Jessica Reyman) in Cultures of Copyright (Eds. Courant Rife & DeVoss). Currently, he serves as the Senior Chair of the Intellectual Property Caucus of the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC-IP) and contributes to the production Kairos: A Journal of Rhetoric, Technology, and Pedagogy as an Assistant Editor.
